I'm going to have to buy the prime tomorrow, and I understand the water needs to sit for 24 hours before it can be added to the tank. I'm super paranoid about these toxins now...would it be beneficial to remove a gallon of water before adding new water?

When adding water dechlorinator, you dont need to let it sit for 24 hours. Just add it to your container of water (For Prime I believe it's 2 drops per gallon) then add it to the tank.

I just did the first water change of 10% with the prime. I hope it helps, and I'm almost done with the maracyn treatments (all of which were performed without the carbon media in the filter). I just noticed that Betta has a pointy bulge/bump on his side. I actually got a picture of it. I have no idea what's going on anymore

I also snapped a picture of him sitting on the bottom with his body curled...I've noticed there's red streaks on his fins in the picture, but I don't see any with my own eyes...I took the picture with my iPhone, so no flash...Do I need to worry about those as well now? I feel like I've been killing him by accident for so long.

Don't feel bad and don't give up on him. I think he is a fighter. keep up with those water changes and make sure water temp is close to the temp of the water in the tank. I'm not sure if you should continue with the maracyn treatment. You just keep adding more chemicals to the water. What does OFL think about that?

From what I can tell it's just one side and it's right in the middle. I circled the lump from the previous picture.
