I'm taking a break from acne treatment. I've used several pills and creams. The creams work wonders, though they turn your skin into a desert. Totally worth it though, if even for a self esteem boost only. Nothing like feeling good about clear skin! Speaking of which I really need to get another prescription. Ugh. Some people have acne their whole lives. O.o

What are you taking?

I've taken acne treatment before, hardcore acne treatment, it's called Accutane. There's a lot of side effects, but they never happened to me except for the normal ones like dry skin, eyes, dry everywhere. But after nine months of it my acne got cleared up, on my face and back. I still get acne but like not as severe, maybe one zit every two months.

Before the accutane I tried one cream and one other pill, the pill did nothing, it was an antibiotic, and the cream was meh, it helped but it didn't really do anything super like accutane did.

Acutane, I personally would not go there. I took.. Some cream that was like Benz... Something, don't have anymore ATM. My friend was on Acutane but they made her stop because it was taking too much of a toll on her body, and gave her severe depression. I tried talking her out of it myself one time but apparently being depressed with clear skin was how she preferred it.
The doc gave me the option of trying it but said something about blood tests and monitoring my liver to see how my body reacts to it and I was like okay no. The less intense stuff works for me well enough. I don't mind some acne but once I start getting cysts(?) then it starts bugging me. I'm a huge believer in the body's natural immunity and not pumping drugs into yourself, I'll mash up some honey and onion for a sore throat instead of cough syrup even. But acne? That's like psychological torture. I was soo self conscious when I started high school.. Now I'm probably more confident than most teens. :D

Yeah Accutane can have like those severe side effects like depression as you said, I read the warnings on the package, but really I took the risk, and my family would have noticed if I fell into some sort of deep depression. I had to get my blood tested every month to see if my liver was fine and it was throughout the nine months I was on it, and you couldn't drink when you were on it, so that made it even less fun.

Yeah acne was really bad for me, they were really big and red and it hurt to touch it, so I willingly took anything to help with my acne. I've heard Accutane not working for some people, and like Accutane is the strongest acne drug out there. :l
