Cheap Aquarium Suggestions?

So... I have a friend whose visiting from out of town and we walked into my local wal-mart. First of all, they seem to think putting a pleco in every tank replaces a filter.

Second of all, nearly all of the bettas were dead...
I'm contemplating rescuing the living ones since there's MAYBE 5 that might be still alive but I don't have suitable living arrangements for them and I've blown serious dough setting up my new aquarium with Jabu-Jabu over the past month or so. I don't really have a ton of cash to throw around. :/

Anyone know any places I might check to find cheap-o 2-5 gal aquariums? I've posted on craigslist and I'm sifting through freecycle. Any where else I can look?

check your local pet store for Kritter Keepers, or their off brands. $10-ish for a 2 gallon. :d

two: sterilite bins. the 2 gallon ones are less than $5, i think. x3 i'm using both! :D

I considered the kritter keepers. They just seem so tiny. D:

I'm kind of hoping to find some people on craigslist or something with those small aquariums walmart sells for $20 who just want it gone or have no use for it. Or another 10 gal that I can split up. Either of those would be ideal.

But I'll def. check for the bins and kritter keepers again. Thanks. :)

I've seen 10 gallon kits at wal mart for like $30 (the 5 gallons were like $2 less O_o) don't think they have heaters, but filter and light at least

Do you have a goodwill store or a salvation army around? I found my 20 gal. long at a goodwill when I was looking for a stand for my goldfish tank and I got it for 9 bucks it has three of my boys and my huge golden mystery snail in it now.

i'm always seeing 10 gallons on Craigslist. sometimes, they're just $10~20. >.> always when i'm broke.

Try checking local pottery places. Glass cookie jars make cheap quick aquariums for betta's. I have both of mine in them and yesterday both built bubblenests.

I actually got my current set up from cash converters. $40 got me the 10g tank, filter, 3 nets, useless tons of goldfish flakes, and a decent wooden stand. The good will store unfortunately just closed that was in the same shopping center. I might give CC another go though.
