Talking New boy!

I'm so happy My 3 gallon tank finished cycling so I went to my LFS and got a new Betta. They had dragons on sale for $7 so I got him (big steal because all their Bettas are from thailand)

He's a dragon PK with a copper dorsal (with black spots) and his fins are red. His body is almost perfectly covered in dragon scales, and they have a coppery tint (but theirs a red area on his forehead) pics later because he's currently being acclimized (IDK if I spelled/said it right) and the store handeled him very roughly so he's stressed. I'm 98% sure he's healthy, too. And he's about 1.5 inches so he's very, very young. I can't wait to see him in a decent sized tank instead of a glass bottle (my LFS uses those instead of cups for Bettas for some reason)

I released him! Well...

His dorsal fin makes me think kind of like he's a she, but I don't know everything seems so male-ish. I can't really tell because *he* flared at the store and I didn't see the beard, that or it's cellophone.... Also, *he* is so active flaring at the sides and charging at the stuff in *his* tank. I hope he doesn't see me as the enemy who destroyed his quiet life at the fish store lol.

And I'm thinking of naming him Ryu (I know, Already!)

I am seriously starting to think "he's" a she. Other than that dorsal everything screams male... I don't know. Here are the pics, please give me your opinion (I wanted the name Ryu but that might not sound good with a female ) I'm not sure I've never owned a female, I can't see... IT'S belly so I can't tell if he/she has the white dot.

Pic 1: bad shot but shows female like dorsal
the rest are just pics to show what he/she looks like (sorry about size)

I have a girl and he looks a lot like how my girl Maka is built. From the dorsal to the anal he appears to be a little girl. I'd give him some time and Ryu is a clever name for a girl fish too. It's also possible he's a Plakat. Plakats have been mistaken for female betta's too.

(Nami is a good one too.)

If this is a girl I NEED her for my future sorority, she'd be the prettiest fish in the tank... Then I can get yet another Betta lol yay!

Hmmmmm, she has male ventral fins. You can't tell in the photo, but "she" does. Their flowy and full... do you think maybe its a juvenile male PK?
