Heartbreaking!!

I can not stand people who think that this is an okay thing to keep a betta in!!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/towncrier/373596241/
And the comment they made!!
"town crier (14 months ago)
seriously?
pretty sure this fish lived 4 years. pretty sure it's also just a fish."

For someone to claim they love their fish and say "it's just a fish" is an awful person in my opinion.

On a happier note, I'm trying to convince my mom to get a bookshelf tank (heater, filter, the works) and divide it for my two fishies, and maybe divide it into thirds and save another betta from our pet store. :D

UGH, ignorant people. That makes me feel sick, it's abuse. I love my betta's and could never imagine keeping them in such a small thing like that! If he would give it some more room to live he would see that he isn't "just a fish".

What is a bookshelf tank?

It's just a long tank, http://www.petco.com/product/14978/PETCO-Bookshelf-Freshwater-Fish-Aquarium.aspx

Poor little fish. As much as I love Bettas, I sometimes wish they hadn't become popular as pets.
That bookshelf tank is awesome. I wish I'd seen that before I got a regular 10 gallon. More length and less height, you can't beat that.

This is animal abuse but, why aren't Organizations like Peta helping out. Go after these pet stores that keep them in deli cups with no heater.

Here's how I respond when people say it's "just a fish"...

You're just a person.

Also, what did she mean by "we love our illegal fish"?? I hate Betta bowls and almost want to support PETA to just get rid of them )=

I'm loving that bookshelf tank. I wish they had that (or I found it) back when I bought my 5g.

How horrible! I admit that when I first got my fish I bought a small desk bowl along with him. I'm embarrassed to say that I even said betta fish don't need a lot of room... After a little research I quickly upgraded that small half gallon to a five gallon! If I had the space I would have gotten him a ten gallon :(

Very neat tank! I'll say it again, I wish I were back in the USA since I've gotten interested in keeping fish. So many more options and much less expensive!
