These are all great ideas, but when you mention the critter keeper do you mean the ones you can keep a lizard inside? My brother used to have a lizard and I think he had a critter keeper that he kept the crickets inside. He may be willing to let me have it if that's what you mean.

That is the type I use..they had some at petco just for bettas..but they were blue..and I am not crazy about blue...also the reptile ones were a few dollars cheaper so I had money to get a plant.
I would make sure to clean it really well before putting your fish in the critter keeper that had a lizard in it..But it should work...I keep a few empty 1 gallon critter carriers just incase one of my fish get sick...they make nice QT. tanks.
I have my one fish living in a 3 gallon critter carrier though...He seems very happy.

Well, it appears that my brother got rid of his lizard supplies and sold the critter keeper to a person who was just starting out with lizards. I don't know when the next visit to Petco will be because it's all the way across town, but I'm going to Meijers today to pick up some food for our Intro to Journalism class because we're having a party. I wonder if they have anything that'd be ok to use as a betta tank.

It's a great idea, but how would the fish get air with a cap like that? I'm not into the saran wrap idea because I have cats that like to get into things without a solid lid and sometimes they get into my room (I don't know how they do, but they just appear). Meijers is just like Wal-Mart, but our plans to go to Meijers was destroyed by my mother who wanted to go to the stupid Family Fare store that's overpriced. She claimed that it was the closest and the cheapest, but the truth is that if you use your mathematics Family Fare isn't cheaper than Wal-Mart or Meijers. I hate when my mother interferes with my personal school life and animal care when she doesn't know what she's talking about.
