Poor little betta....

Poor fishies. You did your best. Contacting the HQ might help. It did at my local walmart.

I went there today, and I checked on the bettas there. Just like last week all the cups were placed nicely out of kids' reach. The water in all of the cups was crystal clear, and every single betta looked healthy. Can't say the same for the local Petco.

and noticed a betta care sheet next to the cups of bettas. I was reading it thinking maybe they are putting it out to let people know some good info Wrong!!! I asked the kid that worked there to make me a copy and he was like sure. It says you can keep your fish in 3-4 OZ of water. I told him that that was wrong. He asked me how much water that was. I told him to think of a half full baby bottle. He was pretty shocked.

That's absolutely horrible! 3-4 oz? I'd type up a new copy with the correct info and replace it. I almost cried the last time I went to walmart. My mom couldnt even handle being in the aisle, cuz the cups had maybe 2 inches of water and it was so dark you couldn't even see the color of the Betta's. I don't know if they have a "care" sheet there, I'll have to peek the next time I go.

See, I'm so freakin' sick of looking at walmart bettas in an inch of brown water. Or having a stock of dead bettas and nothing more.
I'm going to make this giant display, go for it right outside of walmart, and have a go at it. I want to raise hell over this. It's wrong.
I was taking pictures of walmarts bettas the other day. One particular fish was dead, and rotting, but still for sell. A guy who worked there walked up to me and demanded to know what I was doing. I told him this, exactly,
"I'm doing what I should have done a long time ago. Raise hell, because you all might as well be hitler to these poor LIVING CREATURES. What this is, is wrong, and nasty, and inhumane. Sure, 'save more, live better, Walmart', right? Did you forget to mention to all your customers that the 'live better' applies strictly to humans?" And all he could say, was " ..... I'm sorry miss, I have to ask you not to take pictures of merchandise." And my response?
"Oh? So dead, rotting betta fish are still merchandise? Good to know. I'll be checking your website for this particular item." And he repeated to me what he said before. So I told him to go fly a kite, fish murderer. And he could either leave me alone, or go get his manager, and I'd explain to them that I was feeling harassed by their employee.

i actually would enjoy another trip to my local walmart. since King Steve was in such great shape, with clean water and being so active and happy(though a touch striped from me handling him), makes me wonder if they're improving on their betta care.

Did you all catch the line that basically states that they thrive in the small cups and that it is not only meeting their basic requirements but exceeding what nature gives them! Are you kidding me 0.o'

Considering Maka was amongst the small females which got ZERO care...It ticks me off. I took pictures when employee's weren't around and next time I'm at Wal-Mart I too will be raising heck if I see any betta's needing immediate care. I might just beg my mom to add a new little dude for my own room if I could save one. I plan on speaking to both managers again as well and giving off the truth of information and show them the stress stripes then explain that my fish still has her stripes and is just now barly getting her colors back.

Trust me Maka and Aki are the sole reasons why I want to raise heck. They're lucky the betta's are both healthy and happy.

Better then my local petco. At least Maka and Aki weren't fry still.

I'd say six weeks on the petco females. Had full colors and everything but too small to live.
