stupid duct tape...

so~
to hold the heater to the side of Chappy's tank, i used to use duct tape, to hold the wire to the tank wall, thus holding up the heater(cause the tank is oddly shaped, being round.). but, now, there's this ugly white stuff on the outside. Dx dried duct tape glue, i'm guessing. it doesn't hurt Chappy at all, since it's outside the tank, but it's ugly. ;A;

so, i was wondering if anyone knew how to get rid of it? i've tried scraping, and scrubbing, and everything short of harsh chemicals and burning it. .____o

It is citrus so no "harsh chemicals" (but I still would not get it in my tank...outside should be fine.)

I don't know if you can get it over there but tea-tree or eucalyptus oil works great at getting rid of residue. I used it to remove the sticky residue left from a supposedly 'removable' stick-on thermometer.

I use alcohol (the kind to remove nail polish) to help get sticky stuff removed. I put a little on a cotton swab (depending on the size of the sticky stuff) and rubbing usually removes it pretty quickly. :)
Good luck!

Yeah my goldfish tank had a big dried strip of masking tape residue or something like that and it had been sitting under the house for several years like that. A vigorous scrubbing with some oil, and off it came. That was after a toothbrush, coarse filter sponge, and a stanley knife couldn't remove it.
