Should I Be Concerned? Help...

My lovely Dallas hasn't been doing so great the past couple of days... he's been a bit listless- however, when he sees me come up to the glass, he gets up off the bottom of the aquarium where he likes to rest and comes to see me. Sometimes he's a bit lethargic (didn't flare at a mirror TWICE today- but granted I put some aq. salt in his tank and he doesn't respond well to that, I've learned). Other than that he flared, and he even did the squiggly spawning dance when when I fed him frozen bloodworms :) He jumped for me that time, and he was very active, but I'm still concerned.

Tank is around 78, he eats fine, and usually flares fine other than those two times today.

I just let him into a tank full of NEW, un-salty water, and I'm hoping that will do him some good. Also put an almond leaf in there.

I recently put a flower-pot in there too.

Help D: I'm so worried.

How are the parameters of the water? Like, ammonia, nitrate/nitrite?

I... don't know.

I should have specified- he's in a .75 gallon or half gallon, and I change the water every day to every other day- it has no specific scheduling. But regardless of when I clean it, the water never gets dirty/cloudy, because I clean it often (I have to).

I know, I know, he's in a small tank; I'm still quarantining him, since he isn't looking so well. :[

That should be alright :<

Give him time, keep him cozy and keep his tank dark to relax him.
Perhaps consider removing the terracotta(?) pot? To see if that rules anything out?

Thank you... I'm thinking I will remove his pot for a little while to see if it makes a difference. And I definitely will cover up his tank.


....But what the heck. This fish confuses the heck out of me. Did a water change (no salt) and he's active now... He still just won't flare :/

I don't know if this was a false alarm or what o.e

I raised his temperature to 82 degrees last night and removed the flower pot and went to bed... and this morning I got him to flare! :D Not with quite as much vigour as he usually has (wasn't biting the glass as much, lol) but he did that silly squiggly spawning dance the whole time and he was very energetic afterwards. :3

I was probably worrying too much, but... XD Once I get my HM female, I've been told that no more bettas until I breed the rwo (which I was planning to do all along). He needs to be healthy D:
