2 from the past..

i came across a couple photos of two bettas that i had years ago ~

i used to like to "rescue" bettas from pet stores. basically find the sickest, on the brink of death ones i could find, take them home, and cure them...

i kept them each in 2 gallon tanks. i lived in san diego at the time, so i never needed a heater. i ended up with 7 sick fish once, and the daily water changes were too much. needless to say, i don't do this anymore.


Gimli, who totally recovered, and lived a happy life:





Ghost, who was a hard one to cure, but was super feisty, and even while ill and on antibiotics, he blew crazy bubble nests all the time:

Great job, caring for the sick fish. I'm alot like that, too - always picking up 'strays' b/c I think that no one else will want them...

thanks pekemom. i actually try not to do it anymore. it got to the point where it was pretty stressful for me, and i wasn't enjoying it anymore. :(

and at the same time, i feel like i don't want to support the fish stores that keep their bettas in the horrible conditions that make them sick in the first place. i mean, my current guy was from walmart, so i can't really talk, but in theory, i'd like to support those pet stores that i know care about theri fish. and those are the ones that are usually healthy anyway.
