meet yangtze

so recently, i decided to get a new betta after a few years of not having any.

i went to the petsmart and the petco near me, and the conditions of their bettas were h o r r i b l e!! at petsmart, i'd say one out of every 4 bettas there were dead or dying, and the water was filthy.

so one day on a trip to walmart, i was really surprised to see very clean cups, with happy, bright bettas in them!

now, i usually don't like to support walmart, but this little guy caught my eye. he was really active, and just ferociously flaring to everything in site.

after having him home a while, i notice he is getting the beginning of fin rot, :/ so maybe walmart hadn't been keeping them in that great of water normally...

anyway, i am treating him now, but here he was in his tank before i removed anything. meet Yangtze:

thanks for looking. :)

What a beautiful color! :O He's gorgeous. Good ol' clean water will keep his fins healthy. ^^

Yeah 100% per week with a 50% in between will be just right. I'm sure his fins will regrow back in no time. :D

You're either really good at taking pictures, or you've got an absolutely gorgeously red betta!

Probably both. xD

Welcome to the forum to you and Yangtze!
He really is gorgeous.

Lol, neither did I, but I just assumed it must be such a small case the camera didn't pick it up. XD

BTW I love the name.

thanks everyone. yes, he has just the teeniest amount. just a little "burnt" or thin looking in some places. he really is that red. really red. the photo of him in my avatar, i upped the color, but the others - that's his real color. =)
