Just a warning from something I learned in a class I took. watch out for Blue 2 in dog foods. Very common and there is a possible link between Blue 2 and cancer in dogs. Just a heads up.

The mini type gets around spaniel size :) The proportions of the big dog are maintained, and they'll get around 18-20 in tall at the largest. It's the perfect solution for us since we LOVE australian shepherds but wanted a dog better suited to our traveling lifestyle and unknown future accommodation sizes. SO excited!! The sire and dam are just the sweetest too!

@Bam: Thanks for the heads up. I'm a natural, holistic girl and usually stay away from artificial ingredients anyways :) I'll probably start with Wellness Just for Puppy, but eventually I'll switch to the grain-free. Just because dogs have significant omnivorous ability does not mean that it's best for their system, IMO.

Congrats on your puppy! Dogs can be so much fun when people interact with them and train them properly. Yours is cute!

I shadow at vet clinics whenever I can and of the overweight dogs that come in, by far the most common problem is feeding table scraps. People don't understand how important proper food is.

Congrats! Your gonna have your hands full with an Aussie. I love them but I can not deal with long coated dogs so I'll stick with my pitties and boxers.
