He is having no issues swimming. in fact, he's just swimming back and forth by the front wall of his tank. almost like he's patrolling the perimeter. i don't see the lump anymore either.

What I did for the water change was put the snail in a cup and my betta in the little dish i bought him in. then i used a gravel vaccuum to clean the gravel and to suck out the water. i don't think i could use the vaccuum with the betta in there. is a siphon less disruptive than the vaccuum would be?

just make sure when you change his water that the temperature and ph are VERY close to what his water was before the change

I gravel vac my tank once a week but keep my boys in the tank - They think its a game and try to nip my fingers!(They like being hand fed so fingers in the tank must mean food!)

I found catching them and removing them freaked them out more than having my hands in the tank.
