color change question...

so, i didn't want to put this in the health/emergencies section, because i know some people there have actual emergencies, and i didn't want to take up any attention from them.

so. i pride myself on stress free tank removal. seriously, i have learned how to get yangtze out of his tank, using a cup without him even noticing...or so i thought.

today i removed him, with his cup, and it looked as if he didn't notice (no darting, no heavy breathing, etc).

i set his cup down, and when i looked next, he was PALE. he is usually a brilliant red, and his whole body was a pale pale peach color. i have heard of stress stripes, but there were no stripes.

so, i finished cleaning his tank, and the MOMENT i put him back in his big tank, his red color reappeared. like in one second.

it was so weird. he has never done this, and i probably don't need to worry, but i wanted to ask here just in case.

he's just freaking out a bit. :3 my females do that all the time when i change their water. x-X it's nothing to worry about, since he goes back to red when you put him back in his tank. :d

Bettas are constantly changing... they get paler, darker, shinier, duller... their eyes turn black, their eyes get pale... they get breeding bars, they get horizontal stripes... they flare and their colors get intense... these fish are like mood rings!

I think they do it all just to freak us out, lol...

haha thats what tamaki did.. i was cleaning/doing water changes and i did what you did to remove him... and hes normally a blue/yellow fish, but he turned almost white in the cup! lol he returned to his normal color after i put him back in..

but when i did the same thing for haruhi, she didnt freak out at all. in fact, i heard a few splashes here and there while she was in the cup and acted really, uh, angry?.. talk about anger issues.. . -__-;;
i swear these guys have so much personality!

My betta sorta does that too but he gets dull when I put him in his storing bowl when I clean his tank. He goes back to normal after I put him in the water. I also play with him with his mirror to flare up his gills and he gets noticebly brighter ( his turqoiuse turns sky blue ) Your betta is fine : )
