Then I get up, go to grab my fish food, and get greeted by a dancing fish, a bouncy gecko, or a purring cat, and my eyes get little hearts instead of pupils, and I'm delighted again. So yes, we all get stressed - just remember why you do it, and you'll be fine.
I'm not stressed with my fish I only have 1 10 gallon. But, I have snakes and that is very stressful. The huge food bills is what got me. I was paying $100.00 every other month to keep them fed. Plus I had a female this year that laid 10 eggs and became egg bound on the last egg. She wouldn't pass the egg so I had to have her euthanized. That was a very sad point for me she was my favorite snake. Plus the eggs she laid were all duds. I feel she lost her life for nothing. This is a phot of her.
That's sooooo sad D: My friends African grey died from being egg bound and we didn't realize it until afterwords when she was dying in our arms so I totally understand where your coming from.
What's already been said sums it up nicely. I personally don't find my fish stressful. What I find stressful is my two stupid cats who must inspect every thing I put down on the counter where they're not supposed to be, from a cup with water, a fish net, water test tubes, etc. They seem to think I put things down just for them to knock over. They also like to throw their food all over the kitchen floor.
So, in a nutshell, my fish are far less stressful than my felines and are actually a bit of an escape. :P But I love my stinkers and they remind me of it when they curl up on my keyboard or nuzzle under my arm and it all seems worth it.
BTW, it's only stressful to me b/c I have so many other responsibilities also. If I only had the fish, I wouldn't get stressed at all.
I have my kids, my home, 2 cats, and a rabbit besides my fish to take care of. :) Just the amount of work I have is stressfull lol. But if I didn't enjoy some aspect of it, I wouldn't do it.
I have a lot of other responsbilities, too, but I think it doesn't get to me because I have a 5 gallon cycled tank, and (2) 2.5 gallon tanks. So there's not much to look after with them! ^^ Water changes generally take less than 10 minutes so it doesn't overwhelm me at all.
