My new Betta! Meet Amethyst. :D

Everyone's been asking me to post pictures, so here we go! I went to my LFS today, and I got what I personally believe to be a beautiful Betta. After all the discussion on this site about getting a Betta, I've finally got one! I've named him Amethyst because he's blue and red, and those colors make purple, and Amethyst is purple. Here are some pictures! Just click on them to see it bigger, if you like. I must apologize for the poor picture quality; I only have a cell phone to take pictures with. :(







I almost didn't see him when I was picking out my fish, though! Today it got nearly 96 degrees out, and the owner of my LFS had all the fish tank lights out, so when I mentioned I was looking for a Betta, he turned on the lights of the fish tanks that had the Bettas. After I had almost made my choice, he realized he'd forgotten to turn one of the lights on! I saw this guy and I loved his colors.

The owner is so nice though. As I was paying, he asked me if I had food. When I answered yes, that I had pellets, he said how the Bettas were used to flake food and might not take the food I had. So he gave a few days worth of the flake food he uses for free in a plastic baggy. My LFS really does take great care of his fish, though. *nods*

Oh, and my mom found this cute little guy and just had to take him home. Right now he's in a 20 gallon tank that houses our goldfish/koi in the colder portions of the year. She decided to give him to my sister, although she's not too thrilled with him. I'd be willing to take care of him, though. <3 At any rate, he's a cute little orange guy. I've been calling him Sorbet. XD



I realize they're probably not as beautiful as the fish breeders raise, but considering how it's the best I can get at age 15, I'm quite happy. :D From what you can tell from these low-quality pictures, how do you like them? Xp

the orange one looks cool. i have never seen one all orange like that. bettas have so much character :D

I have never seen one like that either. I think he's so cute though, and my mom couldn't leave the store without buying them. XD

I'm partial to the blue fish though, and I love the coloring that Amethyst has. XD But I must agree, Bettas have a lot of character! :D

That's the most important thing. Everyone has different tastes, so go with what works for you. ;)

Thank you for all the kind replies! I fed them a little bit this morning, each given a little of the Hikari Bio-gold and some freeze-dried bloodworms. Both looked at the food, and the orange one tasted it, but neither ate that much, if at all. I hope all that's wrong is they're still getting used to their new homes. :(

It might take them a bit to get settled in. Just feed them one pellet at a time to make sure they eat the food. Otherwise it will just mold in the bottom of the tank. Bettas need to be trained to eat food off the bottom.
