Look what Crayola did to his dorsal fin!!!!

Sorry for the blurry pictures, but you don't need a clear picture to tell that he only has a stub for a top fin. LOOK. He's in the 1 gallon QT with 2 teaspoons of Aquarium salt to prevent infection. And he keeps circling around trying to bite MORE off of his caudal!

Bad Crayola!!! That is just so frustrating. I have one that also demolished his along with his caudal fin. It's pitiful!

I know, and his fins were growing in so nicely, too! And he WON'T STOP TRYING TO BITE HIS CAUDAL! I think it's too short for him to reach now. I think the reason he had started biting again was because it got long enough for him to finally reach!

Lame! I have one who is DESTROYING his fins... I upped his water changes and got rid of his filter and added salt and melafix..it seems to help but GARSH its frustrating! When I was trying to find help for Iri, I actually read one site where the author blasted people who claimed their bettas were chewing their owns fins because he didn't believe them (he clearly never had one do it or he'd shut up!!)

Stress, boredom, sometimes it's just the way they are. People bite their fingernails. Why wouldn't a fish bite his fins?

Don't worry, it was a legitimate question! I'd never heard of it before I joined here, either. I was only trying to explain. It can be hard to believe!
