Exclamation Jasper is sick help please!

hi help please!!
my 2 year old Crown Tail Betta Jasper is sick and i dont know what to do.
he's floating vertically on the top of the water breathing from the surface and isnt swimming. i know hes pretty old but he was fine this morning.

Housing

What size is your tank? 2 Gallon
What temperature is your tank? room temp its 72 degrees outside
Does your tank have a filter? no
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? no
Is your tank heated? no
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? no other fish just plastic plant and glass pebbles

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? top fin color enhancing pellets
How often do you feed your betta fish? 1x/day, fast 1x/week

Maintenance

How often do you perform a water change? 1 x every 5-7 days
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 100% and clean the plastic plant (no cleaners / chemicals just hot water)
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? top fin betta water conditioner

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

Nitrite:
Nitrate:
pH:
Hardness:
Alkalinity:

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? hes pale and floating vertically
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? he hasn't eater today and is floating and not swimming
When did you start noticing the symptoms? a few hours ago
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? yes, i changed the water 100% and added 1 tsp of epsom salt to the new water in case it is a bladder problem
Does your fish have any history of being ill? no he's been perfect for the past 2 years, his color faded from how it used to look but i figured thats just because hes old ...
How old is your fish (approximately)? 2+ years

Oh man, that's dropsy... it also looks like he has fin rot but that's the least of his worries... At this point it appears to be too late but if you can raise his temperature *slowly* to 80-86*F, do 100% water changes every day and continue the epsom treatment you might be able to help him... Additionally, you can treat him with Maracyn II but it appears that he is too far gone for that... Sorry :(

pleaseee someone tell me whats wrong with him :-(


he now dropped to the bottom of the tank when he tries to swim he just flops around and seems all disoriented he keeps flipping upside down

thank you for the reply... why does this dropsy thing happen??
he was fine and now hes dying ive had him over 2 years already he was my first Betta fish

update: Jasper just died.
RIP he lived a good long happy life for a Betta
i want to remember him as the gorgeous fishy he was when i first got him.

I'm sorry about Jasper, he was gorgeous :(

Dropsy is a symptom not a disease. It means that he was having internal organ failures, usually the kidney's, which allows fluids to build up. It can be caused by a number of things, the most common cause is internal bacterial infection...
