Oh, can I add the salt while Barracuda is in the tank?

It is best to premix it in a separate container and let the salt dissolve.

Got the aq salt, I bought the 33 oz (I think it treats up to 220 gallons, it said) just incase I need it for the future. Time to do a water change!

2nd water change today. It hasn't gotten any worse, it stayed the same. So that's good right? He's an active fish, but he seems more active with the AQ salt. I think he's feeling better! I also bought him six grassy plants.

Question, if by chance after the 10 days is up and his tail is still jagged/gets worse, should I buy actual medication?

It looks foggy by the grassy plant, but it isn't. I'm not sure what that's about.

No just keep his water really clean with frequent water changes and he should be good. If it gets worse again let us know. Glad to hear he seems to be doing good and keep us posted.

Update: It's gotten worse. It was the same this morning and when I came home there's a bigger gap. Should I take all of the plants out? They're not real plants. But his tail doesn't have any black on it, so is it the plants ripping him up worse?

I do see a plant that could be ripping his fins, the dark green one on the left in front of the pink-orange one looks sharp. I would remove that and see how it goes.

It could either be the plants or he is biting it off. You should see my halfmoons tail. It is like 1/3 what it used to be and he won't let it grow back. He just keeps biting it off. You should consider getting some silk plants or live ones to rule out it being ripped off. He still would probably like some sort of plants to hide in or play around when you take the current ones out.
