Exclamation Hood/Divider Problem! Need Advice!

So I'm currently using a screen lid that has to be on all funny for my 10g. It's not working out, the part the screen top doesnt cover because of our filter we have covered in saran wrap. The only reason we got the screen lid was because the stupid Petland didn't sell aquarium hoods, just kits. Now that we have the time we're going to get a real hood online. Tonight, hopefully, since my mom finally has time.

We have a divider in the tank, that attaches itself with those metal clips. Now, my question is, how does the hood fit over the metal clips? We dont want another situation where the top doesnt cover the tank right.
What do you guys do?

Here is a picture of the tank, minus the saran wrap:

(the picture is when the tank was set up for the first time, hence the cloudiness of the sand and no fish)

Thanks for looking, any help is appreciated! :D

Did you try getting the glass for a 10 gallon. Its a foldable glass and comes with Plastic strips that you cut to fit on the back. Works perfectly. I can take a pic if you want.

A picture would be great! I don't know how to picture the cut-able pastic strips on the back >.< if the strip is on the back, how does the clip in the front have room? Does the glass not come up over the clip enough to worry about jumps in the front?

Ohh I see! Was it easy to cut? It looks great! Theres a good deal on Amazon I found for the right size glass top with a separate light strip, since there isnt a pet store here and it seems to be a decent online deal. (Cheaper than buying a full hood and having to worry about the clips) Thank you do much for your help! I'm so glad I dont have to worry about melting holes or something just for the divider if I got a full hood. Thank you thank you thank you! :D

Your welcome I'm glad it will work for you. I used a sharp pair of scissors to cut it. If you want to have a real clean cut use something like a fine tooth saw. But, scissors will work.
