Question Tail Rot/ Tail Biting ? Please Help

Hey All,
I've got my fish since 3 weeks now and he has been pretty fine except a small depression that is now gone away. But recently i noticed that his tail started getting slightly ripped at the end. I wonder if it is normal. He is as active as when i bought him even if sometimes he just stops moving.

Housing
What size is your tank? 2.5 gallon
What temperature is your tank? 26 degree celcius
Does your tank have a filter? no
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? no
Is your tank heated? yes
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? none

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? floating pellet cut in two
How often do you feed your betta fish? twice. once in the morning once a night but the same pellet. its 1/2 each time. Sometimes he has 1 1/2 pellet

Maintenance

How often do you perform a water change? once a week
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 100%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Dechlorinatore

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

Ammonia:
Nitrite:
Nitrate:
pH:
Hardness:
Alkalinity:

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? his tail is starting to slightly get ripted
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? he is a bit calmer
When did you start noticing the symptoms? 3 days from now
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Yes, i changed the water
Does your fish have any history of being ill? Yes, he was depressed
How old is your fish (approximately)? i believe less than a year

here are some pictures. I know the plant is not natural but i can't get a natural one. I do not put gravel because 1) it is too much hassle to clean and 2) it keeps too much dirt.
I am a university student, i live in the dorms, a fish is the only thing we can have.

Hmmm I'd say is either snapping at the plant, althought I don't think it is, or he is tail biting, doesn't look much like fin-rot.

But you should wait for more people to reply.

Good luck though, your fish is incredibly pretty! :D

AH, and welcome to the forum

You're welcome, glad he has a good home, it's a shame you don't have the proper time to clean gravel and stuff, would be nice to see the aquarium with it, but oh well, he has a nice home already anyway =]

Although you can also buy stones... Ok I will stop xD!

but yah, fin-rot usually makes the ends of the fish to be blackish like this guy here from the other thread:

And I don't know how to treat tail biting, if that's the problem, some people on the forum have some bettas with the same problem, they will be able to help you.

What you can actually do is;

If you can leave a laptop in your room with the camera on looking at the aquarium, you can like record everything to the livestream, you don't have to worry about the computer space, it all goes to the internet live and saves later, so you can find if he is tail biting or snapping at the plant... There's an idea xD

The site is this one:

He can like quickly bite himself then stop, you never know :X

flares are normal, it can either be a sign of stress or just trying to protect it's territory.

I had my fish being stressed once, when I had it on a 2.5L vase waiting my 10G arrive..

Hmm maybe something is causing him to stress. You can always buy a terra pot vase and put in there to be it's cave, people on the forum tent to do it :P

And they often like it too.

But idk.. ugh
