I have my 3 girls in a 10gal with 3 Corys. They seem to get along just fine. :)

If you are doing a sorority, I wouldn't put another type of fish with them unless it was larger, like a school of black skirt tetras or something else of that size. Small tetras like neons would get torn to pieces. Female bettas have a habit of ganging up on other types of fish. Also make sure you taking any snails or shrimp into account when stocking your tank. Females need 2 gallons each, snails need 2.5 gallons each. Shrimp might be a better option for you; they clean and have a small bioload.
