I don't think this is fin rot . . .

I do not think this is fin rot, but I just want to be sure. I think he must be tearing it up on something in the tank maybe.

That's just how his tail is. I have a VT almost exactly like yours and his fins are like that.

tail looks like tail biting. :U could be rips on the anal fin, though.

he could be bored. or stressed. or just like the taste of his tail. bettas tail bite for many reasons, and we're not 100% sure WHY they do it. :d try switching around the decor in his tank a few times. :3 that helped my Dante stop.

BTW - off topic of my original post, but your comment about him being bored made my think to ask:

My betta (well, technically my 4 year old son's betta) will follow the dot from a laser pointer all around his tank, just like a cat or dog. Does anyone else's fish do that?
