Airstones?

Hello everyone.

Do bettas need airstones? Because I bought one for my little guy and he is terrified when I turn it on. I made it so like, there's one bubble constantly and he's still terrified.

Thanks everyone!

nope, they don't. they breath air from the surface, so extra oxygen in the water isn't really necessary

BUT keep it on hand. Betta end up living in anaerobic environments and most infections they commonly get in bowls can be treated with heavy aeration. You can stick it into a slit in a sponge and sort-of make a sponge filter which will reduce the little shock waves in the water.
