Sponge filter?

Has anyone ever used one of these in their tanks? I was thinking of getting on for my smaller tanks housing my crowntail Blackbird and soon to be halfmoon. Blackbird's in a 3 gal kritter keeper and I was thinking of getting another for a halfmoon that i've been eyeing the past week or so. I mean I have the bubble maker and the line just not the sponge itself.

Sponge Filters are the best type of filter for a Betta, as they require no filter baffling (very little flow), and are easy to clean and maintain.

The only reason I don't use one is that my Betta tank is in my room, and the air pump would be too noisy for me to sleep.
