Yea she pooped today - feeding questions

This is the fourth day that she has not been given food. However, she seems to have pooped today and is able to hold herself underwater without wedging herself under something. (Her castle, heater, or suction cup of the filter)

Since I bought her she has always been abnormally large around the poop chute. I was told that female bettas were. (I'm beginning to wonder though. I think she was constipated and on her way to SBD when I got her.)

Anyway, towards the end of last week she was having trouble staying upright when swimming at the surface and had a hard time going under the water.

I have been fasting her since, and changing most of her water everyday. I have not checked the levels. Her tank is too new for it to be cycled yet.

My daughter saw her poo this morning. She seems to be able to keep herself down now. There is a thin whitish string hanging from her poo area now. I can't get a clear picture of her that shows it.....

Can/should I feed her today? If so what? I have Two kinds of pellets Betta Banquet and Hikari gold, I also have frozen blood worms. They come in a cube and I usually give them 1/4 of one once a week.

Does your tank have a filter? Yes - but doubt it is cycled yet.
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? Not sure. The filter uses air to suck up the water and push through filter - but the flow, especially with the check valve installed is so slow the water looks stagnant on top.

How often do you feed your betta fish? A few pellets most days, worms once a week, 1 or two days (Not consecutive) fasting

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? She was always fat around the belly area, she was fatter then normal but looks just a little more fat then my boy now.
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Was displaying symptoms of SBD, now not so much.

How old is your fish (approximately)? I have had her 2 1/2 to 3 weeks now. She is still very small...compared to my boy who I've had for 5 months.

AMENDMENT She is not totally over this. She can swim a little below the water no longer right on top with her back out. And she lo longer lists to the side. But she seems to still struggle to go down to her castle or near the bottom or middle on the tank.

Not that I expect any reply at this late date, but Princess is totally recovered from her fight with SBD.

The lady I spoke to at the fish store (Who owns 32 bettas apart from the store) suggested that having a deeper place would actually help get the extra air out of her swim bladder and once changed to the deeper waterfall globe that Bo lived in she recovered the rest of the way.

(Bo, on the other hand seems to really like her 2.5 gal long with its slower flow rate. I think he may stop biting his beautiful tail.)

I'm glad to hear both your bettas are happy and healthy now :)

And that's good to know, I never would have thought a deeper container would help, but that sort of makes sense...
