Moving... How do I go about moving my fish???

Okay, so i think the title says it all... But lemme explain!

It's not cities. Just neighborhoods. Like, 7-10 min drive. So I don't wanna out and spend anything more then $25 for this.

I've got nine bettas. 5 female 4 male. I've got like, 5(?) of their original containers left. The rest crack and break.

So do I go to the petstore and ask for a few betta containers w/ lids? Or ask for 18 fish bags and double bag them, wrap with a towel, and put in a plastic food container? But if I bag them myself, how do the get oxygen???

I'll probably be moving them Saturday. So my best option I think, get the cups, put them in that, leave them in that friday night. Saturday, after work (2pm), take their tanks over, set them up their and put them in their spot Take my fish over, let them sit for a few hours and let them adjust, and put them In before bed???

Anyway, help?

You won't have to spend much money to move your bettas. Just take them out and put them in their store cups, OR you can also use plastic tupperware bowls that have been rid of any soap residue with a hot water rinse, with a tad bit of vinegar.

If your tanks are filtered make SURE you take out the filter media and put it in a tupperware bowl WITH TANK WATER so that your bacteria colony doesn't die! It would suck to have to re-cycle all your tanks. When I was moving my 5g I left JUST enough water in the bottom to cover the gravel so that the beneficial bacteria wouldn't die. I also took extra bowls/a bucket of the old place's water so that I can mix it with the new water and the betta can acclimate easier. But since you have so many, this step isn't necessary. Make sure your betta bowls have lids as to avoid any accidents...

Some recommend to let the tank sit for 24 hours and get running before adding your fish again, but if you just let the tank settle for 1-2 hours and then float and acclimate your bettas accordingly, they will be just fine. :)
