That is fine. Heaters are the key.

filters aren't necessary, unless you want to cycle. However, if you have a 2.5 gallon (it's size is alright), you can't really cycle a stable cycle. You would just have to do two 50% and one 100% water changes a week.

If you want a larger set up that requires slightly less work....I know petsmart might still be selling an empty 10 gallon for all of 12 dollars, and one aqueon pro heater 50 watts would be 20 something dollars. A filter from walmart would be all of 10 or so dollars as well, and then all you'd have to do is divide that tank between the other two bettas, and they'd be happy as could be. You could do a fish in cycle (50% water changes a week), so long as you don't remove the filter media (you could just stuff the filter full of sponge filter media and clean them in old tank water once a month during one of your water changes).

I feel so bad for those fish. That is animal cruelty right there..... I wish I could explain what that teacher put those bettas through.

What do pets do without human interaction? Um, they die. Should be kinda common sense. And you know that if they were doing this with dogs and cats, animal welfare groups would be on their butts so hard about it. Anyway, I keep all of my fish in 2.5 gallons, and they're fine.

>.< grrr. Anyways....

Walmart sells 10g tanks for 12$. Or a 10g tank with hood filter etc for about forty bucks at petco or petsmart.

Ok. I found my old 10 gallon wayy back in my storage room. I tested it for leaks and there were none :) So i am now pretty sure i will divide it in half. What would you guys recommend to do that? I looked up tank dividers but they looked a bit sketchy and easily breakable.

Here's a DIY tank divider: http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/d...ividers-21866/

I have my 10 Gallons divided 3 times so I have enough room for 4 bettas, you could divide yours, it'd save you money on buying a extra filter and heater, or any other tanks. But you could just split it for 3 bettas (rather than 4 like I did) So they'd have roughly over 3 gallons each. =3

Aw how sad and horrible. Ive never heard of such a thing, or had to do anything remotely like it in school. Happy ot hear your saving them and would love to see pictures once they are set up. Amazing that they survived all of that.

Well I've set up my tank 10 gallon! I didn't put the divider in because there is a chance that she won't have to bring home two, only one. I got a new filter for it and thermometers! Yay! Looking forward to the new Betta!
