tail fin rot?

my betta, on the end of his tail, seems to be deteriorating. it looks like it rotting. it looks a little fuzzy and white. the temperature has been higher than normal, so i don't know if that could be why. would adding salt help? here is a pic... you can see in the left how it is blurry and fuzzy.

Need some more information.....

How big is the tank, how much and how often are the water changes, water temp, filter, live plants, type and amount of substrate, additives used, appetite and amount/type of food, tank mates, how long has his fins been like this, any other signs/symptoms, has he ever been sick and/or treated, if so, how/what/why.....how long have you had him and housed in this setup....

its a 10 gallon tank, i change the water every week, about 1/2, i have 2 live plants, decorations, i give him about 2 pellets/day except one day/ week, 2 snails inside, and no other symptoms. he has been hanging around the top a bit, but he seems to not hang around there as much anymore. i have had him for a few months.

If it is tail rot, I would say aquarium salt, daily water changes and 80-82F temps would fix the problem.

fin rot usually gives a black-ish colour instead of white.. but hey it's gone now so I guess it got better xD!

It may be saprolegnia or columnaris, which is caused when your fish is in poor health and water quality is also poor.
I would step up the water changes and make sure you are gravel vacuuming thoroughly.
In an uncycled tank you will need to do 100% waterchanges to get rid of all the ammonia, if not you are just diluting it when you do waterchanges.
I had this recently in a tank that I though was clean and had low ammonia ppm so.. I tore it down, QTed all my fish in AQ salt

I also gather snails poop a lot so it could be adding to the need to clean, vac and water change more often
