+9001 I love sushi!

I think I'd be more concerned about ACTUAL bad stuff happening from eating raw food...i.e. chicken, lol

Beef Sashimi is amazing for those who've had it *nomnomnom*

Not a fan of sushi/fish eating in general.

I've been handling raw beef and turkey for 3 plus years for my dog and we've never been ill here. I'm not even that careful, to tell you the truth. We're probably immune by now. Of course, I don't eat fish, so maybe it's different?

Depends on how fresh it is. Which is why sushi and very especially, raw beef is a lot safer than people assume :)

If you've got it lying around your fridge for a couple of weeks then it's a lot more questionable than something you've just bought. For example, raw chicken GOES BAD (in my country at least) within 48 hours of being refrigerated, so you gotta cook all of it and freeze some or eat it all :P.

Most sushi places only order a certain amount of sushi a day, and finish with little or no waste, and the staff have a set-lunch sushi for lunch break and/or dinner break. I believe fish keeps slightly better than chicken, but I'm sure those places know what they're doing, lest somebody gets sick.

It does happen, but it's just food poisoning from a bad clam. Salmonella is technically food poisoning, because I read that only older, immunocompromised people died from it.

BON APPETIT~ <3

I'd say the longest Molly's raw beef sits in the fridge is 3 days and that's not often. I only buy 1.3 lb packages. Turkey is probably the same. She eats it raw so I have to handle it every day and I've always been fine. It's led me to cook my burgers a lot less briquette-like. :P

We always freeze the meat we buy unless we are sure we are making something with it the same night or the next night.
