Talking ScoobyBlue and Shaggy

Wow. Bettas sure are addictive. My 6 year old daughter picked out a Betta for her room. He is a blue/green halfmoon from Petco. His pic is my avatar. It was so much fun getting him all set up that I decided I wanted one for myself so ....... here's Shaggy. He's a CT also from Petco. I stuck with the Scooby Doo theme when naming him. We also have a gold mystery snail named Velma. Who knows? Maybe I can get a Freddie and Daphne too.

Here are some pics of Shaggy. He loves his little house. He hangs out in there.

It's a starter kit. Came with the filter, hood, light and some misc. sample packets. (I haven't used any of those.)

I did have to do the sponge trick on the filter because it was a little strong. Seems to be working fine now and you can't even see it. I was able to find a dark colored sponge.

I picked up the thermo, heater and decorations seperately.

Does it work okay? I was thinking about getting it. And what's the sponge trick?

Works great so far. Filter is really quiet. I'm happy with it.

I read the thread on here about how to baffle your filter. Some use a water bottle and some use a sponge. It's a sticky - how to baffle a filter. I think it's under betta tanks, bowls, accessories, etc.

Congratulations! And yes, they are addictive. My explanation for why I have two is that the mini bow 2.5 that I was using went on sale and how could I pass up getting another one? Then there's the fact that I put in live plants and after doing a bunch of research switched to Eco Complete for a substrate and since it comes in a large bag, no reason to not set up the second tank, right? Thus Shiki joined the family.

My current problem is that I ordered too many plants for these two small tanks, and I discovered that I still have a 10 gallon tank in the garage that I thought I had gotten rid of. Hmmm.......

There is always an excuse... 2.5 went on sale, need a bigger aquarium for plants, want to start spawning, etc. There's always something... heheheh C:

Shaggy is cute! I really love his coloring. But I must say, ScoobyBlue is my favorite... you have a little girl with an eye for bettas! ;)
