First Timer's Spawn Log CT (Simbad x Sinara)

Woop! Welcome to my first ever spawn log. I'll be updating this pretty constantly for the next few days with pictures and updates depending on how things go.

Tomorrow is the big day, I'll be throwing my pair in the spawning tank friday afternoon around one pm. The tank is all ready, Temptature has been at a solid 82 degrees for over a week now, IAL has darkened the water, and my plants are doing well. Also, my VE culture is in, as well as my BBS.

I do have one question though; Should I put Simbad in the tank tomorrow morning, then introdice Sinara tomorrow afternoon? Or should I add them both at the same time? (With her in the vase of course.)

Awesome....is this your first spawn....

Since I spawn using a more natural method and setups...I like to add both fish as the same time at night-turn off the lights and I usually will have spawning at first light....I use plants as a natural separator so I don't have any premature egg drops...full to the top 10gal with soil/sand substrate very heavy planted..75-80% of the floor and 25-30% floating and the male using the floating plants for nesting site...Oak leaf tannins, 80F and lots of common snails and RCS and lots of microorganism for live fry food for the first couple of weeks...of course my method is not for everyone...but it has worked great for me......

In your setup-I would add them tonight...and release her at first light..sit back and watch them spawn.....

Yes, this is my first spawn. And regarding my question, that sounds great, but I have school from 9-1 tomorrow. I'm just kinda nervous about leaving them alone when I don't know how agressive they are. Would leaving them alone like that be a big risk, or would it be better to give them the alone time?

I would wait until you got home to release her so you can watch them spawn....

The pair are in the spawning tank, Sinara in her vase and Simbad free-swimming. Sinara has stared to show her breeding bars, and Sim is showing off like nuts. So far so good. (: Updates and pics to come!

They've been in for a few hours now, the female is still barred and the male is showing off. Poor guy is 'panting' pretty hard from zooming around so much. He hasn't started a nest yet though...

I have pictures, but the computer is being weird and now uploading them.

Simbad as a little nest going, more like random groups of bubbles but he's getting there. :3

I just released the female, and so far there's just a lot of chasing. Nothing terribly agressive, but my male seems more interested in seeking her out and chasing her than working on his nest...They are both breathing pretty hard from all the running around.
