Larder Beetle Larvae

I am reading Encyclopedia of Live Foods by Charles Masters and have come upon a suggestion to feed larder beetles and their larvae. Has anyone tried feeding these to their bettas? I found some eating my cat's food and I scooped them up and put them in a container and am wondering if it would be worth culturing them for use as a conditioning food. I would probably only feed the larvae as the adults seem a little too large for my bettas.

I decided to give them a try. My bettas seemed to only be interested in the smallest of the larvae which were about 1/4". The larger ones were ignored but I will keep my culture going since I can feed the larger ones to the African clawed frog I will be getting soon.
