Sure :) Try what you want to. If you have other bettas (yes, right?) theyre gonna want them, too! Hehe. Try Hikari's, if they have it. They come in cubes.

I'm so happy to hear that he is still here with us! I have been thinking about him all day, and hoping that I would come here and find him still wanting to live. You are doing a wonderful job in helping him. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed that he will continue to improve.

Still alive this morning, trying to swim a little more, but he he flips sideways and upside down when he tries to swim???? We are going to get him some shrimp or bloodworms today and try to tempt him to eat...

I'd say go with frozen if live isn't available. It might seem a bit gross to work with, but you'll get used to it. And you fish will love it.

Don't panic just yet about the swimming/swimbladder, he may just be woozy from lack of food. Soon as he gets some good grub in him, he'll be cruisin'.

Frozen is good but a little harder to divvy out a small amount. And as Silverfang said, a little gross to work with. Blech. Try culturing mosquito larvae, I hear they grow pretty fast.

Some small pipettes or syringes (like for dosing babies with liquid meds) would also work.
