Should I change the gravel?

I've had the same gravel in Gilligan's tank ever since I moved him to that tank in April. The gravel seems to have dulled in color, so I bought some new gravel to replace it. However, after doing some research on the internet, I learned that some people believe that gravel should be replaced as rarely as possible because it breeds beneficial bacteria. Is that true? Should I replace the gravel or not?

If you make 100% water changes in your tank, then change it.

If you have a larger tank that doesnt get/need 100% changes (its filtered), then I wouldnt replace *all of it, but replacing some wont hurt.

If your tank is cycled, but has only been for a month or less, Id wait to replace it. If its cycled and more mature, you should have bacteria built up enough in other places to be fine.
