Just out of curiosity...

Someone told me a little while back that it's hard to breed dark/bright purples? Or purple in general?

Also that breeding two purples doesn't necessarily mean purple fry?

Just to clarify, I was thinking more like a violet shade than lilac.

My ultimate would be a violet/black CT

Purple is not proven to breed true and most fish that appear purple are actually red over blue or vice versa and not truly purple (despite what their owners insist).

Oh okay. I heard it was something like that, something about how much the red shows through the blue or vice versa. I have realized after looking at everyone's pics and my own betta how colours appear to be layered and how it changes with different light and angles. Fascinating stuff
