New 3gal!

My neighbor/friend gave it to me as a birthday gift.
Of course, I paid for it anyhow, because it was $25.
Came with a filter, the tank, and a light. I put the filter on low, and the current isn't even moving the plant near it, so I guess it's alright. Genesis is still in his ~1.5gal because the new tank's instructions said to run the filter for about 24hrs before adding a fish.

I'm surprised that part of this desk is holding it, to be honest. It's for a computer monitor. But we watched it for awhile, and the wood's not bending or anything.

Thank you!
The plants and rocks are technically mine that I already had. xD

Wal-mart! I went shopping with her for baby stuff (she's due in November), and we stopped by the aquarium section. Which was astoundingly tiny. There were like, 5 different tanks total. And this was the cheapest, surprisingly. Even the .5gal ones were more pricey. Ridiculous.

It is technically a tank for tetras, but I'm sure my fish will love it.

Made by tetra, for tetra. Said on the box it was for tetra.

The light is blue. I'm not sure why, but that amuses me. xD

Ugh. Looks like I'll need to baffle it?
I put the thermometer in to make sure the water's adjusting to room temp, and it got sucked right to the filter (didn't put it in near the filter).

Just looked at their site & they don't have it listed.

If anybody can let me know whether or not I need to baffle this or something, I would greatly appreciate it.

It's a Tetra Whisper filter (similar to this).

The intake is apparently strong enough to drag the floating thermometer across the tank, and hold it there. It's not pulling on the plant that's right in front of it or anything, and if I push the thermometer up against the side of the tank, it stays there (it is just a regular floating thermometer, so I have no idea why it stays, haha).

I would certainly leave it off for now, until you figure something out. My friend had that in a 2.5 gal and it made me mad, because it was so strong it ripped up the fins of the fish I gave her ><

I would def. baffle that, yeah. Jam up the intake by removing the thing that sucks up water (wherever that is) and put something like fake plants inside of it. Try the same for the outtake, too, why not? LOL! Sponge will work great, as well.

Alright, thanks a ton. C:

I do want to have the filter up and running, but until I fix that, I'll just leave it off. I'll take a look at it tomorrow, and if I can't fix it up, I'll leave it off, and just let Genesis have the whole tank to himself until I figure something out~

It looked fine until I put that thermometer in, and I definitely don't want Gen's fins to get all ripped up. x .x
