JimJam, up to 3 girls now, eh? Post pics.

I want one more girl for my sorority but I'm afraid to add in a new girl after so long. Everyone gets along so well now . . .

Red-tail catfish - the sale of them should seriously be illegal. Those things can get up to 4 feet long. One of my fish profile books lists the maximum length as 72 inches. Seriously! I'm like 63 inches tall so . . . whew! I mean, that's the maximum length and most of them don't live long enough to attain that but still. I wonder if you can eat them when they get too big to keep?

I'm popping in to say hi and then popping out to dinner. See rant thread, I will be posting there. *mumbles about parents without common sense*
Sounds like my surviving parent. Not that the one other one was any better. No common sense in either! Good luck with that ;)

Steph, I'm so sorry about your babies. :( *hugs*

The bacteria flexibacter columnaria - also known as cotton-mouth, mouth rot, mouth fungus, or just plain columnaris - is pretty much the one to blame for tissue eating. There are other bacterias that cause ulcers and lesions but generally, it's acute columnaris that causes that severe tissue necrosis. There are also some fungus and parasites that can cause tissue damage but usually it's bacteria that deals the finishing blow.

I'm like a typing encyclopedia of yucky fish trivia.

Tisia, aaaah, now there's an idea. :) Your fry are looking so adorable too. :D

Gossip, I always tell my mom this quote out of the movie Driving Miss Daisy. "Sometimes I don't think you got the sense God gave a lemon."

MEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Then, yesterday... his entire upper mouth... suddenly.. gone...
That's EXACTLY what happend to Sushi. I never saw any fuzzies or anything. Just her upper mouth was gone one day. And that is what is happening to Butterbuns. I dont see any other signs of columnaris and I am still not sure what I have been having issues with IS columnaris or something else.

Maracyn 2 doesnt look like its working. Bettafix and tetracycline (which is all I had for India and My giant girl) didn't work at all either. And its only the females that have gotten it. The females that died all came from walmart, except for 1. And the one with the missing lip has been living alone for months.

Do you know what the other possibilities are?
