it can be pretty stressful and a lot of work. takes forever to do water changes, because you need to go super slow to keep from sucking up babies, and then you still end up having to chase a couple around the bucket so you can put them back in the tank, lol
I saw the most interesting thing at a Petco Friday. I'm sure they're out there and I'd just never seen them before. 2 female double tails! I thought about getting them, because they would make a nice addition. But, I'm trying to only take the ones that really need homes or the babies (since they don't do well in the store). I haven't bought a betta in a long time that looked healthy and was because I thought it was pretty & interesting. My big heart goes for the ones who need help.
You're making me confused, Tisia, because you're making me want to breed cute little baby bettas and at the same time making me not want to do the work. :) I'm so conflicted now!
lol. it is an awesome experience. loved watching Errol and Olivia embracing and I spend a lot of time just staring at the babies. really enjoyed watching them grow from eyes with tails to looking like actual fish, and seeing them starting to explore more and become curious about their environment. like I said though, lots of work. few different food cultures sitting around, most of which don't smell too great, lol. lots of cleaning, having to deal with dead babies and culling, etc. all that on top of having to take care of my adults and going to school as well. just a matter of how much time you have and if the pluses outweigh all the work, lol. I'm already considering who I'll be trying out next if that helps >_> lmao

concerned I wouldn't be able to pick up everything that way. I have a lot of live plants in there so I need to be able to get the leaves. plus nerite snail poops are pretty good size chunks. I didn't end up going from just using flexible airline tubing to adding a piece of rigid airline tubing on the end. gives me a lot more control.
