That looks like it's off the charts.

Which one? The king or the little crowntail?

EDIT: Never mind. Posted before reading the whole thread again. Poor guy. I think, based on something else I read, that a color like that would be approximately 11 ppm? How is that thing still alive?

I have never seen the water turn BLUE before and I have never seen it change so fast either. It turned that color in less then a minute! The darkest color for the API tests is a dark green which I have seen a few times. No idea what level blue is...although I did read a story about one test that turned pink and the owner called API. API guessed it was about a 15

As long as he does not develop any illness (mainly a case of the fuzzies) i think he will be OK. He swims around and eats like a pig. Sometimes he is motionless on the bottom of the container or floats near the top but I guess that is to be expected with an ammonia level THAT bad. I can see him swimming around right now. he has a heater - a tetra 50 watt but that thing is pretty bad, his water still feels kinda cold but not as cold as it would be without a heater.

I wonder what color he will be? I'm guessing red fins...but his body color?

EDIT: the Kings were in pretty bad shape too but I only brought home this guy which caused my mother to go baslastic fit for some reason claiming that I was going to give her a heart attack for buying shelves and a fish. She has been introlerable the past week >.< and her logic makes NO SENSE

He looks like he may have some permanent gill hyperplasia from the way his gills stick out but as long as his water stays clean it shouldn't hurt him. Will he eat? That's how I measure a fish's will to survive. If they eat, they have a really good chance of making it. If they won't . . . I start to worry.

I think he might have a green/teal body when he colors up. He'll be purrrty.

Oh yes, he eats like a pig.
He isn't gasping for breath or having rapid gill movement which kinda surprises me.

The only ones I had that did not eat were sluggles and el kabong. Sluggie took a few days before he downed a bloodworm and el kabong ended up with columnaris and a cauliflower on his head. He didn't eat for like a month. I had to OD him on maracyn 2 to get rid of the fuzzies. It wasn't really working using normal dosage
