I want a mouthbrooder. So fascinating! They don't eat during the entire time they brood the eggs/fry.

EDIT: don't blame the tech support, the companies they work for have these beyond crazy rules and regulations so no matter how much you want to help, the tech has to follow the rules. Even if they suck.
It's helpful to know these things from an inside perspective. Basically, don't shoot the messenger.

Yea, and I think they're much more peaceful than other wild types as well. No jars for me!
But that one pair on aquabid costs $45. -__-

I'm sorry, Elizabeth. :( Maybe they're backed up with calls or something? :/

Olympia, yeah. But it would be worth the money. I don't know if I'd spend that much for a betta splendens but for a wild-type, definitely.

Wild betta are pretty special. All the info on mouthbrooding fish is on cichlids. But it seems like pretty much no work on your part. xD

I think in most betta mouthbrooding species, the male does the brooding. You just have to be careful not to startle him because he can swallow the fry or spit them out prematurely.

Who's tagorama?

EDIT:

Book says the female will gather the eggs and spit them at him; he catches them and his throat enlargens. Do not move him for the first 3-4 days because the eggs are delicate and he is "highstrung" and might eat them or spit them out. After that time, he can be moved to his own tank but not fed. 1-2 weeks later, he will release the fry and can then be moved back to his own tank and fed. His throat will go back down to normal. During the incubation period, he will appear like he's chewing the eggs because he is moving them around in his throat.
