Isn't that the blood type that any blood type can be accepted by it?

I believe I'm the universal recipient. I think I can take any blood type but only someone of AB+ can take mine.

Edit: Just checked, it is the universal recipient. I still donate anyway.

I don't know what I was thinking earlier, Rachel Alexandra's newest foal's sire is Bernardini. I live in St. Louis where the heat wave & drought have taken a big toll. Must have fried a few brain cells in the process ;)

I'm B something. Can't remember. My dad is universal. The blood bank is always calling. He donates platelets too.

How do you donate platelets? Those are the things that repair damaged blood vessels right?

Thanks so much Eaturbyfill! That's my "son", Jack. He's 12 now. I've had him since he was 9 weeks old. My biggest baby. I should try & put a newer picture of him up, he's lost some weight now. He was tipping the scales at about 28 pounds at one time!

Here's Auggie! Sorry the picture quality isn't good. He's so little & always moving. He will be going into a bigger, better tank when he gets a little bigger. Easier for me to maintain water temp & quality this way for now. And I think a filter would be WAY too strong for him right now.

I've thought about donating, but I have a history of anemia. My doctor confirmed she didn't think I should. Besides apparantly my red blood cells are oddly shaped.

I think there's some special procedure that separates the platelets from the rest of the blood. He's donated a crazy amount of blood over the years but not so much in the last few years. Once he retired, he got too busy to go, ironically. o.O
