Zomg threw up? I guess if they get something stuck in their throat they can regurgitate it back out but I've never heard of a fish actually DOING that before.

Copper, bummer about the car. :(

I found this on a website http://www.flippersandfins.net/dropsy.htm
I don't know how reliable it is, but it's better then what some of the other sites have said....

Quote:
Abdominal swelling might be lessened by adding Epsom salt at the rate of 1/8 teaspoon per every 5 gallons of water, as it will draw fluid out of your fish. Never use aquarium or other types of salt, as these may pull even more fluid inside of your fish, worsening the dropsy.
So aquarium salt is a big no no for dropsy

the site also says this
Quote:
*The best antibiotic to use for prolonged immersion, which can only be obtained from your Vet, is tauted to be Augmentin (amoxicillin/clavulanic acid) 500 mg tablet crushed per every 10 gallons water after a 25% water change has been performed, daily for 10-14 days, though I have been disappointed with its’ results in tropical fish.

Uh, since most of the fish kept in aquariums are tropical fish, freshwater OR saltwater, then that statement kind of contradicts itself. Must mean it works only on goldfish.

If you look at the picture of Alucard you posted, he doesn't look even as bad the fish supposedly in the early stages of dropsy. I mean, on the flippyfish website. This guy:

Now look at Alucard:

He has some pineconing slightly but it doesn't look like every scale is sticking out.

There's a sliver of hope for Alucard, I really hope he's taken on some of his namesakes traits and will pull through, thanks Sakura. if I have time before I leave in the morning I'll take another photo of him to see if it got any worse over night, if it did I'll post it.

I have to go to bed, keep you fingers crossed for Alucard.

Am I the only one that feels ill and gets shivers/goosebumps when I look at dropsy patients? I honestly felt feverish at that picture of Alucard DX...felt light-headed at the white one above it, as well as the goldfish dropsy pictures on google.

Sorry, haven't been on in a while, MMO's taking over my life >_>

I brought Redbeard II home today, he looks less bloated and a little more active than his predecessor. I kept him in QT-processing extra long this time (over 12 hours) to make sure it wasn't my fault beforehand. I was literally taking tablespoons of water in and out of his cup. (I figured I should practice for when Skittles and Starburst arrive sometime in August).

Question about that, should I do said scooping process with their official home water, and removing the Thai water, or should I put them into super-clean treated-tap water in a QT? Asking this because other than my cursed tank, I only have one QT

Also sorry for being a little serious/not joking around, I'm both sleepy and a little depressed, lol

Me too.. I can't stand looking at dropsy! It feels like a death sentence for a fish.. Especially such beautiful fish. :(
