Ambient rather than bright? I don't think it's flourescent but are those better? And how which one would I buy for this:

eta= I have the flourescent light from my pink tank. It says, Sunbeam 2U 9W. 120V, 60Hz, 140mA, 2700K.
Should I switch them? I don't know how old this flourescent one is, it came with the tank when I bought it second hand in January or February 2012.

You want a fluorescent that has 6500k for starters. 2700k is not enough.

eta= so I just .. gaaah. annoyed. My flourescent one doesn't even fit.

Has anyone ever kept sea monkeys as a kid? I am somewhat fascinated by the aspect of pouring a bit of powder into a small container of water and having little aquatic critters come to life from it.

I want sea monkeys. My bf thinks they're gross and doesn't want me to get any.. Also he thinks I should kill all my snails because he doesn't like them. Not kill them, but put them outside which is worse than killing bc death would happen a lot slower.

Who says your BF has the authority on what you get. Your an adult, right? Then you have the all the authority you need to get sea monkeys. Screw his sick ideas of them being gross. They are cute and that's that.

EDIT: If he thinks putting aquatic life outside in a dry environment is okay, letting them die a long slow and painful death, is he really worth keeping?
