Hahaha, well you know, just to have a potato around! Can never have too many potatoes!
I think you freeze it first and it helps the numbing. I also think it's easier to pierce if there is a sturdy potato behind your floppy ear.

Ohh, I didn't know it helped with numbing. I thought people just did it for ear-support. xD
Haha! I'm the oddball here. Never had any piercings! Don't really want any either. I'd be afraid of getting a branch stuck on them when I'm in the woods.
I had them pierced in 3rd or 4th grade but they got infected and closed up. Pierced them again later and then got a second set in junior high. But I almost never wear earrings unless it's something really special like, oh say, Hugh Jackman's concert on Broadway.
On top of that, they're pierced lopsided too.
Elizabeth, I get infections really easy too even when I wear sterling silver. One of the reasons why I never wear earrings.
did you get it pierced with a needle or with a gun Elizabeth?
i know a thing or two about piercings. and tattoos. i just do what i want- except too scared to pierce anything on myself
It was always guns. I felt like they were stapling my ear, lol.
Edit: That's how I am, too, Sakura. My parents paid for the sterling silver ones to try to keep it from getting infected.. but nope. Still did xD I had them pierced when I was little, about 12, and about 15. The hole is still there, except grown over; I'd have to re-poke it.
