Tisia: It started out white when I first had it, now it's turning gray-black and giving off a horrible sulfur smell. >.< I had some leftover sand in a 2.5g quarantine tank for my cories and it went totally bad, I dumped it all out. I kept wondering why the tank smelled so bad, especially right after a water change.
Neil, haha, what are the odds the TV phone and the phone would ring at the same time.
Thanks, Fighter, I think I'll make me a rake. An underwater Zen sand garden. I knew substrate in general could get those pockets I just didn't realize I had to stir the sand so often. Ooooops, I feel bad, my ignorance just killed two perfectly good cories. >_<
I think I may use playbox sand this time, too. That aquarium stuff is so fine and almost powdery. As long as I don't use rough sand the cories should be okay. I put a huge pot over the one area in the tank where I can see the sand turning black, don't want them digging around there.
Lots of people use playsand, even pool filter and building sand. It's cheaper than aquarium sand any day, that faq on my turtle forum is really helpful :D
I wanted sand for my turtle but sand has been banned in Mumbai because they get it from rivers and it causes erosion.. I don't understand why they can't use kiln dried.. Idiots :P Building constructions have stopped because of it.. -___-
