The one thing that I have noticed in Canadian upbringings that stands out to me as something I dislike is that a lot of people put more emphasis on sports than on education. Only so many people are going to get into the NBA, NHL, MLB. Education = Good Job = $$$ = Financial Security... I don't know if this is just where I'm from, or in Canada, or just normal everywhere. To me it just doesn't make sense...
I noticed that EVERYONE here is expected to go to university, people look at you like you're dirt if you go to college.
This. At least I am going to the GOOD college. People leave uni to come to the programs here. I could easily transfer over to uni after I graduate if I wanted.
Laki they do in my nephews school, it's an extracurricular activity there.
Maisy and Olympia it all depends on where you go in the US. Here in NoVa we are probably the most tolerant and open minded but the United States as a whole is very conservative.
