Well, the asteroid D14 2012 (or something like that) flew by the Earth 17,000 miles from the surface (that is closer that the moon and satellites- a RIDICULOUS close call). It is the size of half a football field, and is currently on it's way far far away from us.
While this was happening, a meteor the size of a van weighing like 10 metric tonnes crashes into central Russia, producing the effect of a small nuclear explosion, injures 1100 people, creates a sonic boom that smashes windows in a huge vicinity... crazy stuff. The two events are unrelated too.
^ Is it just me or would that be sort of scary to do?
