I dreamt the divider in my tank got loose and Bowser tore off Ludendorff's gill and half his fins.

*hugs* Laki, you're a good friend. :). The last time I thought I had a cyst issue was at least a year ago. I also always panic and think any pain on my lower right side is my appendix. Can you say hypochondriac?

Olympia, hahaha. That might be a first for the forum, a betta named Buttface.

He is a Buttface, though..

Do you know what would cause a rainbow oil slick on the tank water? Don't think it's anything from the outside. >_> I've been scooping it up all day. And it's annoying because the halfbeaks always jump into the cup (how do these fish survive in the wild, they have no fear?!)

Oil slick. Happens when you feed a lot of protein-rich foods (especially frozen, I've found). Adding carbon to the filter and agitating the surface can help.

Silly halfbeaks.

The girls are circling every time I pass by the tank. Silly ladies.

Now. Can you tell what is food, and what are berried females?

Holy shrimp.
Okay, less frozen food. Or I should get a strainer and actually clean it properly first...
Holy snail graveyard in the back of the tank. O_O

Does anyone else have a "helpful" husband, boyfriend, significant other, roomie, or friend that likes to feed your bettas because they "looked hungry"? I'm having to clean out their tanks double time as of late because of this. Suggestions? Experiences?

I feed them 2-3 small amounts a day, so, no, they are not starving.

feed once a day. Max twice. Never 3 times for adults. You'll just create more waste production. To solve the problem at hand, hide the fish food.

Silver, it looks like your shrimps have been nomming on your plants. Bad shrimpys!
