IDK, I'd like to wait until the angels mature. See if they'll nom the rummys I have currently.....but then again. The rummys are young right now. They're all about an inch long.

Sakura-I think male mice stink worse. My rats don't smell to bad. I use a spray deodorizer to wipe their cages down during bedding changes. It helps a lot. I also use paper type bedding no wood. Wood isn't as good at absorbing oder. I make my own bedding with my paper shredder. Saves tons of money.

Yay! I got my boy bandit almost a month ago. Make sure you have bitter apple spray on hand because they love to bite.

Shirley, that's good to know. I mean, I honestly can't believe how much this tiny tiny mouse stinks. I walk into my room and BAM, I smell his musky smell. I also heard neutering helps reduce the scent but a mouse is too small for the operation.

I should make my own paper bedding for the hamster, that's a great idea. The rat girls have a corncob bedding in their litterbox and just a bit of some kind of crumbly bedding from Vitakraft in the bottom of the cage for fun. The hamster and mousy have Kaytee Clean and Cozy since they love to burrow.

Sakura, just kinda thought of this on a whim but is there any way that you could add baking soda near/in his enclosure without him getting into it?

Yea the paper shredder works really well. I like it not just for its money saving abilities. When you rip newpaper yourself it doesnt look as nice and its softer from the paper shredder. Not bad, twenty five dollars and telling the family to save newspaper for me. I havent bought bedding since. My ferret loves it especially. When I clean his cage and put in fresh he burrows in to the new and naps under the paper. I had a few male mice to and they do stink worse than rats. Its like they constantly pee. I would be to nervous to get a mouse neutered I think.
